July 18 | Paws & Respect – A fundraiser for BCR

Looking for a fun, educational way to kick off your summer with the kids? Join us Friday, July 18th at 1:00pm for PAWS & RESPECT: Learn how to “Speak Dog”, a special fundraising event in support of Burlington Community Robotics (BCR)!

Hosted by Instinct Canine Training, this interactive session is designed especially for kids aged 6–12 who are curious about dogs, communication—and maybe even robots!

What’s It All About?

Dogs and robots might seem like they’re from different worlds, but they’ve got more in common than you think. Both need clear commands, calm energy, and a little bit of patience. This session helps kids become confident, respectful dog communicators by teaching:

🐶 How to tell if a dog is safe to pet
😨 What to do if you’re feeling nervous around dogs
📜 How to take the K9 Safety Pledge
🤝 How to approach and interact with real dogs—safely and kindly

Kids will get to practice their new skills with special furry guests Keziah, Mia, Freya, and Puppy Kovu—available for cuddles and high fives (or is it high paws?).

Robots and Dogs: A Shared Mission

At BCR, our young engineers build robots that move with purpose, listen to commands, and learn from experience—just like dogs in training! Whether it’s teaching a robot to follow a line or a pup to sit on cue, it’s all about understanding behavior, giving the right feedback, and building trust.

This event is the perfect blend of STEM and empathy—two key ingredients for raising thoughtful innovators.
